Organizational Contest

Batchelor's Orchestra will be participating in ISSMA Organizational Contest this weekend! Our performance time is on Friday April 5th at 8:50 p.m. at Columbus East High School. Parents are invited to the performance. We will leave from Batchelor at 4:30 p.m., return at 10:30 p.m and will perform three pieces: Finale from Mozart's Symphony No. 6, Dvorak's Humoreske and Blue Fire Fiddler.

Solo and Ensemble

9 orchestra students participated in solo and ensemble contest this year and all performers received a gold rating for their performance!  Congratulations Kira, Courtney, Hadley, Lucas, Sarah, Amber, Megan, Josephine and Lydia!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! There are several important events coming up in the next few weeks:  String Spectacular is on Wednesday January 16th, 7:30 p.m. (Rehearsal Tuesday January 15th, 7:00 p.m.) and Solo and Ensemble Contest is on Saturday January 26th.  In the next few weeks I will be available to help students participating in contest during tutorial and after school - please sign up for at least two practices with me if you are preparing a solo or ensemble.  I'll have the sign up sheet at school this week. Also, a few orchestra students will be visiting Grandview, Highland Park, Clear Creek and Summit on Thursday and Friday of this week with me to perform for the 6th graders who will be coming to Batchelor next year.

Orchestra Onward

Congratulations! Orchestra Onward was a great success.  I know that the continuing string students loved playing Happy Hoedown with you and the middle school orchestras did a great job with Ragtime Fiddles, The Curse of the Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space and To Dance in the Fields of Glory.  Our next performance will be our Winter Concert on Wednesday December 12th (7:00 p.m. at South).  Next week I will be passing out forms for solo and ensemble contest.  Hopefully we will have many students from Batchelor participating this year.

Fall Concert!

Congratulations on a wonderful performance! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication in preparing for the concert.  Our next performance is only a few weeks away - Orchestra Onward at Tri North on Wednesday November 7th (7:30 p.m.).  We will begin working on that music Monday.
